I am going to do it. I have thought about it for a few months now, wanting to make sure I could commit to it before I took the plunge but I think I am ready. Boot Camp. I’m sure you’ve heard of them – intense exercise programs that meet 5 days a week for a certain number of weeks where they work you to death.
I think this is the way to go. I need a jump start into getting myself fit again after having Cole and I have learned that right now I clearly lack the motivation to do it on my own. So after much thought I am going to go for it. 4 weeks. Then if I like the program and want to do more, I will….or maybe I’ll do something else. But 4 weeks is a big initial commitment. I will have to send Cole to the babysitter’s each morning for his morning nap while I head to Jim’s Gym (is that name for real?) to be exercised into submission. Today’s download will be my mantra as I work through the program and since I love to cross things off my list, I made us a way to do just that for the next 20 days.
The payoff will be worth it. This much I know. I will feel better and stronger. I will have more energy and increase my quality of life. Those are just the natural effects of staying fit so who cares if I need some help to get the job done? We all need a hand to pull us along sometimes. For the next 4 weeks – I’ll use Jim’s.
So how about joining me? Do some kind of exercise today. Take a walk. Do a few sit ups. Just stand there and squat up and down a couple of times. It doesn’t have to be Boot Camp – just do something. And then do something tomorrow, too. Why wait for a New Year’s resolution to start exercising? This way we’ll look great in all of those photos that happen when we party for the holidays.
I’m in this Monday – Friday for the next 4 weeks. Commit right now to do some kind of exercise each day with me for 20 days – 5 out of 7 days each week. Seriously – stride to the mailbox instead of walking. Or sit at your desk, put your hands on the seat at your sides and push yourself up and down out of the chair. How about laying on the floor and using your baby as a barbell (my current personal favorite). Exercise is easier than we think sometimes – share your manageable “get fit” ideas here – we’re all in this together. Come on, don’t you want to do it just so you can cross off the numbers 1-20 and reach the crown on the download? Now that is serious motivation.
Who’s with me? Take my hand. For the next 4 weeks I’ll do it with you – and it will all be worth it in the end. See you on the treadmill!

I think I saw this post at the right time. I keep saying I will work it in… OK, OK. Something tomorrow. Something the day after. Repeat. OK. I can do it. : )
I’m in!
I’m still trying to lose baby pounds, too, but my “baby” is 2 1/2 already! (And actually I gained the weight AFTER she was born due to stress from her health issues, but that’s another story!)
I love the download…thanks for the great motivation!
Kolette, I’m with you! I committed myself to run my first 5k race. Did I mention that I’m not a runner? I have 4 weeks to train as the race is on Oct. 4th. So every day I will get on the treadmill, I will focus and I will tell myself that it will all be worth it. Thanks for the download.
I’m in. I will be doing the Slim in 6 program. I need to focus on the “me” weight to get in “next baby” shape!
Today, I went to the gym and walked for 45 minutes. It was pure and utter torture. I have committed myself to 4 (and hopefully 5) days per week cardio. I spent the month of August sick with bronchitis, sicker than I ever remembered being. I am grateful that I could go & try. Until recently, I was a 5-6 day a week exerciser, running 5ks, able to walk a half marathon, and very strong. I am happy to be on the road back to physical fitness.
Keep it up! Ibuprofen and fresh pineapple (not canned) really help with soreness. I’m so excited for you!!!
me too! I’ll do a little something with you all
Good for you! I’m in your corner, my friend!
Gosh I wish you could be my trainer. I feel inspired just after reading your post. I started exercising last week with a goal of 5 days per week. So far so good. Good luck!
Just this morning I went and had my initial “fitness consultation” at a new gym. Nothing surprising – my flexibility, aerobic fitness, and body fat all “need work” but I scored in the ‘excellent’ range on bicep strength and resting heart rate. The real work begins tomorrow.
Hi Kolette,
I started Boot Camp in November 2008 and became addicted after the first week. I can’t say enough good about it. Boot Camp has truly changed my life and I can’t imagine my life without it! Congratulations on your decision to take care of YOU!
I went to the gym today after school. I did about 30 minutes of the circuit workout and then walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes. Now, I’m cooking tomato sauce made from the fresh tomatoes from the garden (the last of the fresh ones until next summer–sob) for pasta. It’s going to be a “vegetarian” supper tonight.
I have been trying to up my fitness quotient per week – so I am with you!!! Am off to the sun (Brisbane<Australia from New Zealand) for a holiday in 4 weeks so that works out perfectly. Will print download and cross of the days.
A sneaky exercise I am trying to get into is – every time the TV is on and it is the advertisements I will get down and do "The Plank" – great for abdominals.
Lie on the ground face down – now place elbows under shoulders and lift onto toes (if too difficult just go onto knees) – tummy pulled in tight – nice flat back – head and neck all aligned. Much harder than it sounds!
