My sister, Kara just threw a bridal shower for a darling girl who is getting married this holiday season.  She called me to help her figure out something that she could do to make the experience special and not just jumbled into the holiday events and decor that were already happening.  We came up with this fabulous Christmas tree idea that Shalyse would be able to take with her.

Kara purchased a 3.5′ tabletop tree that already had lights and pinecones.  She then gathered 12 gold ball ornaments, a few chipboard words, a chipboard star, a variety of burlap ribbons and a couple cans of gold glitter spray paint at Hobby Lobby.

I adapted many of my Christmas quotes and Word Trees found in my Silhouette shop here and at Lori Whitlocks svg shop here so that they printed gold and gray.  I added a tiny border around each quote for easy cutting once they were printed.

Using black chipboard found at walmart.com, I had her mount each quote securely.  She kept a small border around each quote and used a Japanese screw punch to punch a hole in each quote card.  She tied gold ribbon through each hole to create an ornament for hanging.

The final touch was to provide white chalk markers (thin is better) for each guest to write a note on the back of an ornament then hang it on the tree.  When Shalese took the tree home, it was filled with love and sentiments from friends and family.

This became Shalyse’s first Christmas tradition.

The tree was already decorated with the balls, gold-sprated chipboard words, and burlap ribbon when guests arrived.  It looked pretty on it’s own.  As the night progressed, the love and joy from each guest began to fill the tree and it became a centerpiece for the event.

Guests posed for pictures in front of it and good cheer was running at a high.

It was a hit!

So, what if you don’t have a Christmas tree to fill with quotes?  Do the same technique and use the ornaments as gift toppers or tags.  I would love to add an ornament like these to my tree.

Doesn’t this photo just make you want to sigh?  That’s what I did when Lisa showed it to me today.  A touch.  Just a little touch of Christmas magic added to this mirror.

Only the believers can see it.

And those same believers can get the tutorial to make it here on Lisa’s blog.  Thanks for the beautiful rendition to one of my Split Shapes, Lisa.  Believers can find many more in my Silhouette shop here.  They are a hot product this year!

I love the holidays for many reasons but one of them has to be the hyper-creative mode that everyone gets into as we create holiday decor or gift ideas.  I have been to Hobby Lobby three times this week and just realized I have to go back tomorrow!  This is the Christmas season.

I’ve been seeing all kinds of projects in blogland using many of my Christmas shapes from my Silhouette shop.  Take a look at these, get your Silhouette ready and get inspired for the holidays!

These shapes can only be used on your Silhouette die-cutting machine or other svg-compatible machine if you purchase my shapes from Lori Whitlock’s svg shop here.

Let’s start off with Beth over at Unskinny Boppy – a month ago she did her first Silhouette project using my shape here.  She loves the Silhouette so much (who doesn’t???) that she came back for more during the blogging 2014 Holiday Housewalk.  This phrase is one of my favorite designs and you can find it in my Silhouette shop here.  You’ll find all of the stunning photos of her gorgeous holiday home here and when I say gorgeous, I mean gorgeous.  Be my neighbor, Beth!  I love her use of boxwood as a festive, organic addition to every room in her home.

Now check out this “Believe” fabric application here.  Find my “Believe” here.  And you’ll also find a tutorial for creating a project like this.

Did you know you could create stamps using your Silhouette machine?  See how Guiseppa did it here with my “Merry Christmas” phrase.  Find the phrase in the Silhouette shop here or choose from any of my other holiday phrases and quotes in the shop here.

Merry Christmas Favorite Product2

Last but not least, Cari has outdone herself with these Christmas tags using some of my latest Christmas shapes.  See her full post here.  The whimsical quality of the design of this “Merry Christmas” is married to the natural quality of the printable kraft paper to create a very current holiday look.  Find this Merry Christmas here.

Next, Cari used one of my Word Tree phrases to create this tag.  You can see all of my Word Tree phrases here or this “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” here. She used the sketch pen feature to print this tag and “Happy Holidays” envelope detail.  Don’t you just love her work?  Or should I say, “work of art?”

As you can see, there are so many ways to use my phrases and shapes to create your projects this holiday season – and I love to see them all!

If you are using a different electronic die-cutting machine and need an svg file, go to my designs at the Lori Whitlock svg shop.  This is also where you can purchase a commercial license to sell a project using any of my designs or shapes on your projects.

Happy cutting!

Check out this cute idea for Thanksgiving place cards – it would work great for any event.  Name tags or raffle tickets or anything you need someone to fill out.  She used my “Welcome”phrase for the title.  I would love to be welcomed by this darling project!

I’m a fan of texture so when I saw this tutorial about how to use my subway art files to print and cut on a canvas sheet, I was totally inspired.  Because I give you a completely merged file as well as the individual words separately in each download, you can manipulate the art completely to fit your project, just like Cari did in her tutorial (found here).

Autumn Years Last Lovliest Smile - Unmerged

Look for my Autumn Fall Harvest word list in the Silhouette store here (for Silhouette users) and in Lori’s svg shop here.  I have lots of other subway art word lists available and this tutorial will work on any of them as well as my quotes and phrases.
